About the Book

What is this preoccupation we have with the color of skin? Why do white people want to live in neighborhoods with mostly other white people? Why is it we don't hesitate to pet a hairy dog that walks on four legs and has a tail? What would you do if you found out an invisible blue being from another world was hanging out with you? Joey, a black boy, has just moved to an all-white neighborhood. As if that isn't enough problems, something—or someone—keeps playing tricks on him and haunting him. Through a few good laughs, the reader shares the experiences of a lonely alien child and a young boy who have to work through fear and numerous other emotional challenges. Racial discrimination with a twist is presented to the reader in a new light. Wars, poverty, and racial discrimination are brought up for reflection in a classroom atmosphere in this story. My Best Friend Is Blue is the first in a series of stories, which uses current world issues as themes. Books to follow will use environmental concerns and other topics of today's time. Each story has the main character personalize the overall theme by taking responsibility through actions.

"Through stories in the fiction genre, I hope to impact children in thinking outside the box when facing tomorrow's challenges. We are in a time of global change. Racial discrimination, war, famine, poverty, and numerous environmental problems will be passed on to them. It is a huge burden. However, I feel the children of tomorrow will finally be the best occupants of planet earth. A better world will evolve as the children of tomorrow protect humanity and our planet with a renewed and strong spirit. I believe in them. I want to be a small part of sculpting that future in any way I can. This is my goal as an author.
