About the Book
The Royal Commission into the Meat Industry in Australia was prompted by reports of meat substitution, price manipulation, cartel behaviour, and issues affecting both producers and consumers. Its remit included examining major meat companies’ behaviour, the adequacy of government oversight, and the impact of industry practices on rural communities and the Australian public. This is the story told through the eyes of someone who was there during the time of the scandal. It discusses some of the main characters and episodes of what went on prior, during and subsequent to the Royal Commission. There was no sector of this industry that, in 45 years of trading, the author was not involved with, sometimes voluntarily, sometimes not. At times, survival required actions that tested resolve and integrity.
