My Sacred Journeys: A Travel Memoir narrates Mr. Jose D. Fermin’s religious experiences in over 150 countries he had visited, so far. He hopped from temples to shrines, from mosques to synagogues, from churches, even to pagan sites, in those places where the physical world seems to meet the spiritual, places revered due to their sanctity, acquired either through an association with divinity, saints and other holy people. Pilgrims go there to worship or venerate, hoping for miracles, peace, healing, or just to satisfy their curiosity. “Asia is the most diverse continent in terms of sacred sites and religions,” he said. He finds Europe still predominantly Christian. He was impressed by the labor expended by the believers in constructing their place of worship, learns the beliefs behind these holy sites, and gives us his deep insights of them. He has acquired a religious world view, and confesses how his sacred journeys deeply affected his spiritually. The book has the Foreword of retired Philippine Ambassador, Virgilio Reyes, Jr.. The book is the third tome in his Travel Quartet, whose first two books have already been published. Just like these two books, Globetrotting and Memories of Adventure, My Sacred Journeys is also a travel memoir with a global scope, coverings six continents, has its own specific theme, and a Filipino and Christian-centric points of view.
