About the Book

The fact that the South African labour market is almost saturated is beyond dispute. Among other things, this means that organisations are becoming stricter in their selection policies as a result of this situation. Interviews are traditionally used as a favoured selection tool after the screening and shortlisting process. In this book, job seekers and prospective employees are assisted with some relevant technical skills, and their awareness of psychological dynamics in job interviews will be raised for success. The book also empowers employees who attend job interviews for promotion posts at different levels in organisations. Winning in Job Interviews: A Psychological Perspective is written in an interactive, reader-friendly manner and caters to the needs of different readers. The main benefits that readers would accrue after journeying through the pages of this book are increased confidence on job interviews and enhanced employability.

About the Author

Sibusiso P. S. Mhlongo is a South Africa–based counselling psychologist who has worked mainly in private practice for eight years. He has sat on both sides of the job interview table. These experiences have prompted him to devote his time in researching about the psychological aspects of job interviews. Basing his writing mainly on social psychology theory, he argues that job interviews are mainly about creating and managing impressions to interviewers. Throughout the book, the reader is assisted to appreciate and take advantage of psychological dynamics which happen before, during, and after job interviews. Winning in Job Interviews: A Psychological Perspective addresses the needs of both new job entrants and senior employees who need assistance in securing promotion posts.
