About the Book

“Poached Eggs” is a work of fiction that inter-weaves ingredients of medical duplicity and suspense into a highly entertaining novel.

Centered on investigative reporter, Rusty Dormier, the story unfolds when she discovers financial irregularities in an academic medical center.  Her investigation leads to the Institute of Human Assisted Reproductive Health, where ultra-new techniques for the treatment of infertility are conducted.  Rusty discovers that infertility specialists at the institution have been impregnating women with embryos harvested from other patients without knowledge or consent of the donors nor the recipients.  As Rusty reports the ongoing saga she finds her own life in danger.

Blending fast paced twists, action, realistic dialog and settings, “Poached Eggs” renders a dramatization of the consequences of a scandalous medical nightmare with legal, moral and ethical ramifications.

About the Author

S. Alan Hepps, M.D., M.Sc. is a surgeon/executive/author who lives on the West Coast. He received his M.D. from Ohio State University and served his residency at the University of California, San Francisco. Doctor Hepps served as Senior Associate Executive Director of an academic medical center. He is a Clinical Professor of Surgery who has contributed to scientific, medical and managed healthcare literature.
