About the Book

Ensign Sam Gaunt is a U.S. Navy carrier fighter pilot, who, as DECORATION OR DISHONOR? opens, is awarded a medal. Secretly, however, he feels that if the true facts were known, instead of a medal he would be getting a court martial.

   During the progress of the war in the Pacific Sam's life is constantly in danger, not only from the Japanese but also from someone aboard his carrier who wants him dead. His division leader about whom Sam knows facts which could get him cashiered from the Navy, another fighter pilot in the squadron with whom Sam has had a rivalry over a girl and the leading chief of the air group who has lost his entire bankroll because of supposed bad advice from Sam, all have reason to be secretly his enemy.

   As the action of the war moves northward from Guadalcanal to Okinawa, Sam finds himself the target in one harrowing calamity after another. Finally, he faces serious charges before the whole carrier air group, charges that could lead to a court martial, but Sam is able to produce evidence that not only clears himself but also identifies the mysterious source of the attempts on his life.

About the Author

Don Corzine has been writing since he was nine. He has sold stories to national magazines as well as published a prior novel, DECORATION OR DISHONOR?. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Brown University where he was Phi Beta Kappa, All American Honorable Mention in football and senior class president he served as a Navy carrier fighter pilot, decorated for actions in the Pacific. In the Okinawa campaign he was shot down by the Japanese but was rescued by an American submarine in the ocean off Ishigaki. After the war he successfully operated his own real estate development firm before joining PaineWebber where he became a Vice President.
