About the Book

Playing the Hits is a suspense novel set in the world of small market New Jersey radio.  Dee-jay Grayson Skyler is a quirky shock-radio personality who’s tempted by his female listeners who call the request lines.  Jasz is one of those hotline honeys and his biggest temptation to date.  The battle is keeping the knowledge of Jasz away from his wife Dayna while beating down the guilt he feels by his cheating.

Dayna learns of his illicit affair and decides to solicit the aid of local mobster Gianni Zitti to help end Grayson’s cheating ways permanently.  After a few bungled attempts on Grayson’s life, Grayson deduces that someone is trying to kill him, possibly one of the many listeners he has offended on the air and decides to lay low in New York City for awhile.

Meanwhile, Gianni Zitti, not one to embrace incompetence, gets a rookie hitperson to do the job on Grayson.  That rookie would be Jasz, his daughter.  This places Jasz in a compromising position of having to kill the man she’s fallen in love with in order to not disappoint her powerful father.  Jasz finds Grayson hiding out at an underground nightclub and sets forth the motion of her plan.  Should she tell Grayson who’s trying to kill him?  Should she kill him and not betray the family?  Maybe she should convince Grayson to kill someone instead?

Playing the Hits will have you gulping for air all the way through.  Either from laughing at Grayson Skyler’s incomparable talent for getting himself in humorous situations or from shock at Grayson’s attempts at extracting himself from dangerous situations.  And all the while attempting to figure out who’s trying to kill who.  A strong woman can get some men to do anything they want.

About the Author

Craig Granato is a resident of Vineland, NJ where he was born and raised. He has served as a comedy writer for various radio and television shows. He has worked in the radio industry for the past 10 years and serves as Office Manager for WVLT-FM in Vineland. Mr. Granato also owns and operates a hobby and sports trading card store. This is his first novel.
