About the Book

This work advances the theory of an integrated functional organic unity of the combined brain and mind including integrated bipartite cooperation of mentoexperiential and neurobiological realms. Conscious partial autonomy identifies the core of the mind-body question as one of relationship of the mind to physical force and the wave-particle dualities of Theoretical Physics. It also necessitates the recognition of higher sensibilities such as aesthetics, apprehension-reason, and value itself as significant functional facilities along with biological primals and adaptive integrations. The view is a grand theory at the outer limits of Theoretical Neuroscience, and one which stretches across the fundamental questions of the Philosophy of Mind.

About the Author

Professor Ronald MacGregor is retired from the University of Colorado (1971-1996). He has published extensively in Theoretical Neuroscience since 1965. His work has helped ground neuroelectric signaling within physical science, and characterize the neuroelectric patterns of neurons and neural networks. His computer simulation programs of these processes have been used widely throughout the world. He obtained his BS, MS, and Ph D in the Engineering Sciences from Purdue University (1956-67), and was research engineer at the RAND Corporation (1965-1971). His previous books include ‘Neural Modeling’ (1977), ‘Neural and Brain Modeling’ (1987), and ‘Theoretical Mechanics of Biological Neural Networks’ (1993).
