About the Book

Corrin is on his way to his birthday party at the capitol of Estaron with his parents. Everything starts out as a normal, but Corrin’s great-uncle, the king, has plans that start the crumbling of Corrin’s world. First they are ambushed on the way back home to Mithual, and then his mother entrusts his care to her mysterious friend. Later, Corrin rejoins the world that believed he was dead under the alias, Caden. Soon after, his mother’s friend entrusts him with a dragon’s egg that hatches into the midnight black dragon Altrien. Now, Corrin must make a choice: to choose the path that allows him to retain his independence and continue the ways of magic his mother taught him, or to follow his birthright and forsake his freedom in order to save his country.

About the Author

Kayla Burcham has been writing short poems ever since a young age. She has always enjoyed sitting somewhere quiet and reading a good story to her heart’s content; her love of fantasy stories that stretch the limits of imagination inspired her to write her debut novel, Rebirth. The frequent vacations with her family to every corner of the country guided her imagination to create the layout of the land in Estaron. She now lives in a rural town in Oregon and continues to write down the numerous stories that come to mind when she has the time.
