About the Book
Rachel Thomas is the mother of seven children, with an estranged husband. Four of her daughters are shipped off to live with family members, and although it’s not what she wants, she realizes that financially she can’t care for them since Aaron, Sr. ran off and left her and the children. She now has a boyfriend who she’s just got to get rid of, along with the constant reminder that she “gave” her girls away. Dealing with her own conscience by not raising four of her girls is one thing, but having to listen to the constant reminders from her family is another. Rachel still overcomes her guilt by reminding herself that her daughters are too good to grow up in the projects. Only she never stopped to realize that they were never too good to grow up anywhere, as long as they were with her. On one hand, she was probably right; but on the other, she pays a price.
