About the Book
A Gift For Teacher is based on a true story of a 6 year old girl named
Samantha and her 3 year old sister, named Madison.
The story takes place on Samantha’s first day of school. She decides to
bring a gift to school for her teacher. Unsure as to what the gift should be,
she solicits help from her mom and sister.
As the story progresses, the girls decide on a great gift to present to her
teacher, just as the school bus arrives to take her to school.
Samantha is surprised however, when she gets an unexpected response
from just about everyone she meets on the first trip to school. Some what
bewildered, Samantha makes it through her first day and returns home to her
mom and sister, where she solves the mystery that accompanied her
throughout the day. The tale ends with the sisters enjoying a hardy laugh
together.
About the Author
About the Author Harry Wetzel was born in Queens, New York during the second World War. After graduating High School in 1960, he attended night classes at a community college, while working full time as a sheet metal worker. He entered the N.Y.C Fire Department in 1967 and for the next 20 years juggled dual careers. He and his wife moved to Long Island in the late ‘60's and raised four children who are now grown and have provided 6 grandchildren who are an endless source of material for true stories for children, about children, that might otherwise be overlooked, if it weren’t for the watchful eye of a proud grandfather, Poppy.
