Temprian  is the figment of Applegate’s imagination as he considers how a  workable and satisfying economic distribution system might function. About the Author

Born in the Pacific Northwest as an after-thot to intelligent and capable parents at the end of World War I, App Applegate has already lived long enuf to have observed and studied several cultures, some worse and one better than his own. Insight to his own culture began to grow about the time that he became head of price-trend analysis at BPA, continued thru 4 years of military in WW II, a decade or two teaching physics and chemistry, a like and interspersed period of sea-going (Master of Sail, Oceans to 500 tons, et cetera), and eventual escape to a timbered hillside on Orcas Island. Meanwhile, he was a foil and saber enthusiast, builder of a steel and a wooden barkentine for strictly cruising purposes in each case, a serious student of non-price distribution theory, and father of three off-spring of qualities rather like those of his own parents.
