About the Book
Take Me Away to Dreamland is primarily a collection of short stories derived from dreams. Part I consists of two essays, one on the process of dreaming and the other more specifically about the dream stories within and other dreams omitted.
Part II is the collection of twenty-four dream stories, and Part III contains eleven stories and essays in almost equal quantity; these stories were consciously generated.
About the Author
Alec E. Kelley grew up in south Texas on the Mexican border. He finished two years at Edinburg Junior College (now University of Texas?Pan American) and graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Texas (Austin). After working 1944-46 on plutonium separation and isolation in the Glen Seaborg group of the Manhattan Project at the University of Chicago (the last two-thirds while in the U. S. Army), he obtained M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in organic chemistry from Purdue University. He taught at the University of Arizona from 1952, retiring as Professor Emeritus in 1986. In 1992 he moved to Pennsylvania with his wife Alita, who had begun teaching in the Pennsylvania State University system. Most of his writing has been after his retirement.
