About the Book

A Land Where Kindness, Not Swords, Defeats Dragons
New Children’s Book Emphasizes Friendship and Trust in Conflict Resolution

"You must carry a thousand swords, cross a bridge that is not there, and provide an empty cup filled. That is how you can beat me," said the terrible dragon as he attacked the frightened kingdom, and only one small blacksmith can figure out the riddle. Of course, the tiny blacksmith becomes the big hero of The Littlest Knight, a new fairy tale by Carol Moore that reminds children they can achieve their dreams, no matter how small they may be or how big their difficulties may seem.

The Littlest Knight, a popular Web-based tale now available in print for the first time, is a classic fairy tale with a twist. The twist lies in that the blacksmith defeats the dragon not by cunning trickery or bloody battle, but by an act of kindness.

Originally conceived during the mid-1970s, Ms. Moore did not fully complete the story of The Littlest Knight until 1993. The Littlest Knight was posted on the Internet for six years, receiving an enthusiastic response from readers of all ages, including teachers, libraries, and other institutions from many countries who have made it part of their curriculums. Ms. Moore is proud to bring The Littlest Knight to print.

REVIEW
by Jennie S. Bev, BookReviewClub.com

Once upon a time, there was the littlest knight with the biggest heart whose kindness defeated the giant dragon to win his princess bride. A fairy tale of courage, kindness, friendship and trust, The Littlest Knight teaches while entertaining with colorful illustrations and rhythmic riddles.

Ms. Moore is a captivating storyteller who conveys her messages loud and clear in the most entertaining way possible. For once, the biggest hero is not the tallest, the strongest or the biggest. The moral of this story is small people can become heroes too. All you need to have is extra kindness, extra perseverance, extra courage and extra creativity to interpret the world around you.

If I were a child, I would have loved my mother to tell this story every night before I go to sleep because it would have given me the warmth and esteem I could have needed. Amazingly, despite being an adult now, I enjoyed this little red book with a big smile.

The biggest hero may come in the smallest package, remember that!
