Táhirih “You can kill me as soon as you like, but you cannot stop the emancipation of women”-Táhirih Famed Persian poetess, Táhirih was the first martyr for Women’s Rights. This drama in 3 acts, is based on the 19th Century mystic who was an outspoken advocate for the education and rights of women. She was executed at age 36 for her views. About the Author

Carolyn Nur Wistrand lectures in the Dept. of Africana Studies, University of Michigan-Flint. She is also the playwright for the Beecher Community School District advocating historical consciousness in drama. She has been involved in the theatre as a dramatist and community activist. She is the author of numerous plays, which address spiritual, racial, and feminine themes of transcendence. Her works have been performed in Hawaii, California, Texas, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and New York City.
