About the Book

A compilation of anecdotal vignettes, Mostly Reliable Recollections sparkles with wry wisdom and rollicking wit.  The “mostly” is a subtle bow to occasional hyperbole in the best tradition of American humorists from Mark Twain to Patrick McManus, two of Ms. Brannon’s favorite authors.  

Drawing on her own background for accounts that both entertain and instruct, the writer invites members her generation to revisit their salad years and makes available for younger readers an intimate glimpse of events and attitudes before their time that still have relevance in today’s world.

By laughing at her own foibles as well as those of others, Ms. Brannon holds up a mirror to human nature and allows the reader to look beyond the narrow limits of ego to the universal spirit that binds us all together in imperfection as we struggle upwards toward the ideal.  She makes it very clear that humor renders that effort much easier for everyone concerned.

About the Author

Born in 1935 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Ms. Brannon now lives in Portland, Oregon, where she tends a garden, writes and paints sporadically, and puts off washing dishes as long as possible. Married and divorced three times, she has three sons and three master’s degrees largely wasted except for the few private students she tutors now in the basics of English grammar. She is the author of Mostly Reliable Recollections and has had a great quantity of poetry published over the years.
