Commissioned by dying billionaire Gordon Sylvester to find Death and implore Death to spare his precious life, author/comedian Oliver Graves learns from lovely thanatologist Margarethe Gentry that Death is a servant of Almighty God. Searching for Death, Oliver travels with the Shade, a phantasm, to the Abyss of Souls where Death sends the souls of the merely good, to fiery Hell where go the tormented damned, and to Heaven where dwell the saintly in eternal bliss. Ultimately, Oliver confronts his awesome majesty Death himself and learns why Almighty God has ordained that man must die.
