About the Book

A Poet’s Dream is collection of assorted poems and interesting topics highlighted by the biography of the author. These poems are heartfelt expressions of the human experience which also express the thoughts, feelings and experiences of the author. Interestingly, one of the poems is presented politically and its theme might prove provocative in relation to our present day political debacles. Another poem in the collection, titled “Where do I go from here”, expresses to readers Steinberg’s disability and her struggle for her future. This book will undoubtedly move both your emotions and thoughts.

About the Author

I was born one of twin girls on February 16th, 1950 in New York City. Due to a lack of oxygen to the brain I suffered a physical disability known as Cerebral Palsy which later on became a big challenge for me and my family. In 1951 my parents, myself and my twin sister Jane moved out to a small town in Nassau County on Long Island called Carle Place. There, Jane, I, and younger sister Amy were raised in a peaceful setting. My parents Betty Steinberg and Maurice Steinberg helped raise money for a special school, the United Cerebral Palsy school in Roosevelt Long Island and there I received special services such as speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy plus formal education from pre-school through High School. I learned how to type using a head stick which enabled me to write all of my papers. In 1970 I graduated from Roosevelt Cerebral Palsy school and went on to Nassau Community College for two years and transferred to Wright State University in Ohio for a year and a half. Eventually, I decided to return to Long Island and attended C. W. Post College where I earned a BA Degree in English Literature and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Today, I do desktop publishing with a special computer program that I operate by my knee. The program was designed for Professor Stephen Hawking, famous for the Black Hole theory.
