When Shadows Fall

About the Book
At the time, I didn’t know that my life was about to change forever. My father and mother bought a farm and we moved. For an eleven year old boy, there was nothing worse than losing life long friends, missing my grandmother who lived across the road and many other subtle things that were irreplaceable. My paternal grandfather had abandoned us a few years before, and now we were on the move, too. Shadows fell. I hope that this book gives you hope when shadows fall around you. You’ll find three sections in the book. The first section is a collection of sermons that I have preached to congregations over the years about hope; the second section is a more technical treatment of death and grief from a biblical and psychological viewpoint; and the last section serves as a practical guide with exercises and other resources. Special gratitude to many unnamed people and un-described circumstances which have brought shadows into my life. It is only when shadows fall that we can experience a hope that lifts us to new heights of understanding about God, life and faith.
