About the Book

“Gregory Christianson may not be the first to mistake Milton’s Paradise Lost and Dante’s Inferno for tour-books. He is definitely the most qualified to report back faithfully having followed the itinerary and undertaken the actual journey. This savage, headfirst plunge into darkness and despair will challenge the most jaded extreme-adventure aficionado. The work is an amalgam of brutal narrative, sober honesty, and poetic insight. It will shake you to your core and perhaps, like the best travelogues, save you from going yourself”—Bob Anderson, Associate Editor, Unsung Hero Magazine. THE RECONCILIATON OF ALL THINGS: GOD AND THE ALCOHOLIC MIND: Poetic, irreverent, wholly sensitive and deeply honest, author Gregory Christianson’s ground-breaking new release, “The Reconciliation of All Things: God and the Alcoholic Mind,” is a non-fiction reflection about specific periods in the author’s life when his alcoholism was active. Although Christianson is the first-person narrator, the story—-and its flashbacks of memory—-ventures deep into the psychosis of his alcoholic mind and is told through the lens of addiction. The words, sentences and phrases of the book are the sounds, shapes and patterns in which his alcoholic mind—-sober or not—-sees the world. The book follows in the footsteps of “The Lost Weekend” and “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” but, at the same time, is unconventional and aims to set a new standard in the genre of addiction literature. Not only will those persons plagued by alcoholism identify with the narrative but, more important, it will afford those who aren’t alcoholics the opportunity to feel the disease for themselves. Already critically acclaimed, “The Reconciliation of All Things: God and the Alcoholic Mind” is a compelling rendering of one man’s horrific struggle with a disease that has not only shattered much of his former world, but has also forced him to reach out spiritually and foster a new relationship with the God of his understanding. A must for all readers.

About the Author

Former publisher and editor-in-chief of Unsung Hero Magazine, Gregory Christianson has lived numerous lifetimes in his relatively short, forty-three-years. Son of a Lutheran theologian and author, and loving mother, Greg’s parents nurtured his philosophical-artistic approach to life since he was able to ask the question: “Where is God?” Seemingly filled with paradox and endless contradiction, he is relentlessly inquisitive, wholly abstract, and completely impractical. Some would say that people like this would have little chance at making a go of it in this world; but for Greg, the flipside of this is true as he continues to grapple with his opposing natures—a perilous adventure that has, more times than not, allowed him to traverse through time with great light, sensitivity, understanding and love. In the end, his very engine of life seems to be fueled by paradox, one that plays out at the outer bands of love and fear. It is because of his innate tendency to live in extremity that has made his life so painfully gratifying. From college soccer player, to fraternity inebriate, to regional rock singer, to magazine owner, there’s a resounding spiritual quality in Greg that allows him to continually rise up from sporadic bouts of alcoholic despair to express, yet again, a life of truth and meaning. Greg currently lives everywhere.
