The story is set in the year 1974 in Manhattan, Queens and Long Island. The main character, Teresa McCormack is obsessed with her married boss, Phil Noble. Her estranged husband´s refusal to grant her a divorce forces her to extreme lengths including consulting a mambo and resorting to mystical spells. Teresa dreams of a future with Phil¡ love, security, home, children, marriage in any order. Her husband´s accidental death clears the way for the success of her devious intent. The story explores the thoughts and feelings of the characters as Teresa uses her seductive charms to break up Phil´s marriage to Margaret.
