About the Book

How far will someone go to win the Presidency? Is leading the Free World worth the lives of 45 innocent victims? Could she actually get away with it?

The course of history changes dramatically when ‘Future Now’, the Presidential campaign plane of Senator Belanie Baxter, falls from the sky in a terror related rocket attack. Baxter’s husband, former President Benjamin Franklin Baxter, spent the day raising funds for his wife’s Presidential Campaign, but unfortunately, he and his son are passengers on the ill-fated plane. Senator Baxter’s poll numbers jump as a result of the attack and she easily wins her Party’s nomination for President.

The FBI’s investigation points to a terrorist attack, but not everybody is on board that theory. Two agents are assigned to investigate the possibility the attack was personal. When Agents Michael Charles Hammer and Natalie Evans exhaust all other possibilities, they are convinced former President Ben Baxter was the target of the attack. There is a consensus of their colleagues Senator Baxter planned the attack to insure her administration would be free of the influence of Ben Baxter. Hammer and Evans follow their instincts to the nominating convention, but come away with bupkis. The trail grows cold and Senator Baxter wins the election becoming a resident of the White House.

The country is convinced terrorists shot down the plane, but Hammer and Evans don’t buy it. They know someone benefited from this disaster, and she is residing in the White House. Can they prove the former First Lady masterminded the ultimate political dirty trick?

The agents continue their pursuit of justice, with investigation eventually concluding in a way they would never have expected.

First Lady—Senator Belanie Bertrand Baxter has dreamt of the Presidency since high school. Eight years as First Lady of the United States, married to Benjamin Baxter burned the desire deeper into her self. Some pundits say Ben Baxter’s contribution to her campaign is the reason for its success. Belanie knows better, and is ready to rid herself of the burden of Ben’s influence and philandering. When her campaign plane with Ben aboard crashes, Belanie is devastated, or is she?

Benjamin Baxter—The former President of the United States has positioned himself for a return to the White House. His wife will be the Party’s nominee and he will be back in the center of power. He is working hard to raise money and votes for his wife. The plans and his life end when a rocket severs the wing from the campaign plane ‘Future Now’.

Agent Michael Charles Hammer—Agent Hammer (“don’t call me Mike or MC”) spent 22 years in the US Marshals when a gunman’s bullet put him behind a desk working for the FBI. His biggest assignment ever, starts when a plane crashes after takeoff in Houston, TX. Informed him and his live in partner, Agent Natalie Evans will investigate the possibility the crash resulted from an attack on former President Ben Baxter, Hammer becomes skeptical of the mission. His instincts tell him no good can come from the assignment. However, he jumps headfirst into the investigation and utilizes his people skills and sharp wit in solving the political crime of the century.

Agent Natalie Evans—Natalie Evans can be described as the overachieving woman any man dreams of having in his life. A Stanford graduate, NCAA champion in swimming and a crack shot, she met Hammer the day he arrived in Houston. Their personal relationship has never interfered in their work, but now their careers may end with this case. Natalie is the calm to Hammer’s storm as they move towards resolution of who shot down Future Now.

Deputy Director Carl Sampson—Carl Sampson is not your typical FBI Director. While you would think a man in his position would be unapproachable, Sampson uses his down-home Southern upbringing to help Hammer and Evans
