About the Book

Annie’s Journey takes you through most of the twentieth century and you will learn of the suffering and great joy that Annie experienced as an immigrant to the New World from her bonnie Scotland. The events of the twentieth century sent members of the Clan MacGregor all over the world. The first and second World Wars sent them to the Middle East, Africa and Europe, but courage sent young James Cathcart and his young bride Annie McGregor to a new life in the United States. They parted for the first and only time at the Glasgow train station - they did not want to separate, but life in America was beckoning to them. As their family grew, the youth helped the elders adjust to American customs and the elders passed on the joy of family gatherings where they sang and danced to all the old Scottish and new American songs. Annie’s Journey will make you laugh, cry, wonder and bring back memories of life as it was for many immigrants and their families adjusting to their new lives in America.

About the Author

Born and bred in New York, the author later moved to San Francisco – the best of both worlds. After a successful business career, she decided to follow her passion for writing – and became an award winning author for her short story work. Mildred’s first book was the well received biography “Annie’s Journey,” followed by the spellbinding mystery, “The Strange Valley,” and the supernatural thriller, “The Missions.” An experienced world traveler, the author now divides her time between San Francisco and the Sierra Foothills. She spends her spare time enjoying the company of her husband and her plucky Yorkshire Terrier, and visiting with her three children and their families. This is her fourth book, “The Mystery of Seminary Hill.”
