About the Author
About the Author Dr. Rashid Khan earned a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Energy and Fuels Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the Oregon State University. He also earned a degree in Economics and received additional training in Intellectual Properties. Dr. Khan served five years with the U.S. Department of Energy and thirteen years with Texaco, Inc. As a consultant for the Intellectual Assets Management Group of Saudi Aramco, he was instrumental for the development of first the IP policy and commercialization of first series of technologies for the company. In addition, he took assignments with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and served as an adjunct professor at New York’s Vassar College. During his career, Dr. Khan has written and edited three books used in universities and industry, as well as published more than 150 papers. He’s an inventor of thirty patents. As a Society of Petroleum Engineers distinguished lecturer for 2006–2007, Dr. Khan made presentations in India, Thailand, the Philippines, United States, Austria, Italy, Croatia, and Hungry. He has also made presentations at Harvard and MIT. Currently, he is the champion for solar energy for the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) while developing IP policies and research programs for the university.
