It is Thursday night, the end of April present day. Chief Investigating Detective Leo Spano, and his partner of sixteen years Jim Jones drive in the pouring rain to a Mob-Like homicide in the Italian District of the Bronx. It is the latest in a rash of similar killing sprees over recent months. Mob families are battling for more power and control of New York, and other parts of the country. It comes down to two crime families, the Difluvio, and the Margoni. For years, their empires thrived and never crossed paths. That all changed two months ago. At that point, the Difluvio family retained the services of the most lethal, and elusive Hit Man the world has ever witnessed. Known only as Ghost, he gained so much fear and respect in the crime world, that after many years of searching, the police have nothing to go on except that he speaks only in Italian, and he is a master of deception. Not the Difluvio family, nor any of the families he worked for in the past have never actually seen him. Leo and Jim lead a special task force assembled just to find him. The two comrades have developed a deep friendship for one another, and have solved hundreds of tough cases over their long tenure together. But they have never stopped looking for that big break on the man that has so far eluded them. Will they catch Ghost before he completes his assignment, which is to wipe out the entire Margoni family, thus giving the Difluvio family the power to put a stranglehold on the country—-and quite possibly the world?
