About the Book

AT BETHANY: Sermons and Essays is a collection of some of the most effective and thought-provoking works of the author during his tenure at Bethany Christian Church in Houston, a church known for sound preaching since its founding by Dr. Elmer D. Henson in 1947. These writings bring the Gospel of Christ to bear upon issues of political and social concern such as war, poverty, and the environment as well as matters of personal discipleship.

About the Author

Herschel E. Moore is an ordained Minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He was pastor of Bellaire Christian Church in Houston for twelve years before that church merged with Bethany Christian Church where he now serves. Rev. Moore holds the Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky and has done extensive post-graduate work, including an internship in Clinical Pastoral Education and participation in The Summer Programme in Theology at the University of Oxford England and the Kirkpatrick Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico, sponsored by Brite Divinity School of Fort Worth, Texas. He and the former Yolanda Ramírez have been married since 1972. They have two married children and one grandchild.
