About the Book

Depicting an emotional journey that spans five decades, four generations, and three countries, Layers of Living is a heartwarming memoir that highlights the author’s growth from a naïve, introverted child to a courageous and confident adult. It explores themes of poverty, grief, death, betrayal, forgiveness, and enduring love—and suggests that with faith in God, no obstacle is insurmountable. It also portrays personal commentaries of life as an expatriate in the Bahamas, navigating the U.S. immigration system, Internet dating, and dealing with grief. This memoir is a story of a meaningful life, filled with obstacles, various experiences, life-changing lessons, and numerous realizations. Readers are sure to both laugh and cry as they move through the pages of this book, unwrapping the different layers of life that might not be, in some ways, very far removed from their own.
