About the Author
Alice Illg Borning is paying tribute again to a lifetime of sweet experiences as a baker’s daughter. Living over the bakery, she has been involved in all aspects of running the family business of the Elk’s Bake Shop. Besides her education from Wellesley College, Cornell University, and Syracuse University she is an accomplished cook and baker with professional training in cake decorating. Currently living in Central New York with her husband, she is a retired high school math and social studies teacher. With two daughters, and six grandchildren, she hopes to pass on the family legacy of a love for fine baking. Over a six year period, she converted large production-sized recipes with the help of master baker and brother, Arthur Illg. These were then published in her first cookbook, “Reminiscences of a Baker’s Daughter.” Now she focuses on the holidays and the recipes of special times.
