About the Book
Little Stories for Little Folks is a collection of read-aloud stories for children 4-7. They can also be read-alone stories for ages 7-9. Most of the stories include a Texas “critter” that solves a problem alone or with a little help. Henry the Unfriendly tells about a horned toad who questions his looks and his place in life. He finds out that there are reasons he looks the way he does and is no loner as shy, as a result. Gilbert the Pushy Goat learns that others have feelings, too. His friends help teach him this valuable lesson. Alonzo the Medium-Sized Lightning Bug is about a bug who fears he will never be recognized because of his size. A situation occurs that gives him a chance to do something good that will be remembered. Help! There’s a Bear in the House! recounts the story of a little girl who hears scary noises at night. She lets her imagination run away with her until she learns the source of the noises. Safe at Last! is the story of a sparrow’s search for a safe place for her nest. She finally finds a safe home for her nest and eggs in an unlikely place. Old is New Again traces the life of an old barn through the years. It tells how it reemerges once again into a useful, though different, life.
