Motherhood: The Metamorphosis

About the Book

I invite you to consider with me the idea of spiritual growth from the perspective of one of the most extraordinary cycles of all, the cycle of the Monarch Butterfl y. This metamorphosis may be applied metaphorically to women, transitioning through the various stages of motherhood. This comparison may be used also to demonstrate how God transforms His people through their acceptance and application of the life, death, and resurrection of His onlybegotten Son, Jesus Christ.

About the Author

Toya Marie Brown was born in San Antonio, Texas, the fi rst of three children, to Samuel and Beraldine Brown. She received a b a c c a l a u r e a t e degree in English with a minor in religion from Loma Linda University, La Sierra Campus. She graduated with a Masters in criminal justice from Boston University. She participated in the fi rst Black women’s program for CORO, Los Angeles, a national publicaffairs training program that allows the participant to be an apprentice in the private and public sectors. Ms. Brown has taught more than 30 years in both private and public schools. Presently, she is an educator in the Long Beach Unifi ed School District, where she equips freshmen continuation students with academic and behavioral skills. She has served as an administrator at the high school and college levels. She has received several awards and citations for her innovation and creativity. Ms. Brown has a son, James.
