About the Book
Meet Drewbyt, a loveable creature that looks like a large grape on stilts. Although Drewbyt has many friends Piddy Kernel (a corn cob character) bullies Drewbyt, making fun of his appearance and his failed attempts to look scary.
Drewbyt travels to meet with The Great Pumpkin, the king of Halloween. On the way he meets Dick Tater who encourages Drewbyt and gives him step by step instructions on how to make a scary face.Happy with his new skills and friend, Drewbyt suddenly feels much taller than his three foot, two and a half inch stature - and much more confident.
Drewbyt faces the ultimate test when Piddy Kernel suddenly appears with a sneer on his face. Drewbyt quickly follows Dick Tater’s instructions, makes a really scary face and successfully stands up to Piddy Kernel, scaring him away.
Drewbyt learns that if a person believes in himself and the support of his friends, he can stand up to any challenge – even the most feared.
About the Author
R. Aaron Flores is a resident of Palo Alto, California and Santa Fe, New Mexico. He writes situational poetry and stories for young children. His previous works included Tony Pail, a story about Rebecca, a young girl battling a serious illness and her emotional journey. Both Tony Pail and Drewbyt are stories of courage, hope and belief written to inspire children as well as their families.
