About the Author

Anita Hymes, the author of “Flowing Passion”. I am a native of John’s Island, a small Island off the coast of Charleston SC on the Sea Islands. I was raised in a loving Christian family with a strong faith in God. I learned at an early age the power of prayer; we prayed about everything, and I still live by those values today. I grew up in an environment rich with culture surrounded by and speaking the “Gullah” dialect. I am the proud mother of a grown son and a preacher’s daughter. I received my BS degree from Winthrop University and I am currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Counseling. I am employed by (DOD) Department Of Defense for 20 years where I have worked for the Air Fore, Army, Navy and Marines Services Department that provides services for Military Families, Children, and Youth as a Program Director and Trainer. With my job I am blessed to have had the opportunity to live and travel through out Asia and Europe. These exciting opportunities and diverse experiences opened my eyes to new ideas and customs. All of my new experiences were learning lessons that I contributed to me writing this book. I get my inspiration from God and my life experiences. Every poem that I write changes my perception and forces me to face reality. It helps me to learn, and grow in all areas of my life. Every poem I write stirs a passion in me and broadens my creativity and imagination. It creates a new me. I write to create my mind and to heal my soul. Writing is truly healing to my soul!
