About the Book

True Friends: The Story of Abraham and God is an interactive book that allows the reader the opportunity to gain knowledge about the special relationship between God and Abraham.  This story will help them to relate it to their own lives.  They will obtain an understanding of what it means to have a special relationship with God.  For just as God loved Abraham enough to make promises; he also loves and continues making promises to us.  His promise is one that we can always count on, even though we can’t figure out how, when, where, and why.  The activities will help us to understand more and more about God and His relationship with humankind.  It is an opportunity for children to understand what it means to have a special relationship with God.  Just as God loved Abraham and made promises to him, He also makes promises to us and keeps them even though we cannot figure out how He will do it.  There are activities that help us to review the story.

About the Author

Rev. James is an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She has served in many different capacities in the Church and has a great desire to share the stories of the Bible with children so that they can develop a meaningful relationship with God. Rev. James has been a public school teacher for over 35 years and currently works for the Prince Georges County, Maryland Public School System. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from Bowie State University in the area of Early Childhood Education and graduate coursework from the University of Maryland, George Washington University, Walden University and Maple Springs Bible College and Seminary. She is a native of Charles County, Maryland and is married to Benjamin James and is blessed to be a mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy comes from spending time with family and friends. Her favorite scriptures are Hosea 4:6a which says that “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…..” and 2 Timothy 2:15 which states “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” There is no greater joy than to see the Saints of God empowered with the knowledge of God’s Word going forth in the work of Ministry.
