About the Book

THE QUARRY introduces Maudie Hegerty, whose son, Boris, is foreman of the local quarry. Boris is not only facing the threat of labor problems, he is trying to come to terms with the colon cancer that is killing his mother. Maudie is being cared for by Dr. Jessica Malloy, the physician in charge of the emergency department at Woodhill Memorial Hospital. In the course of her work, Jess befriends Woodhill Fire Department first-aid officer, Eli Sheffler, who becomes her steadfast friend through events that threaten everything they hoped would be in their future.

About the Author

In addition to more than 35 years' experience in the horse industry, Laurie Loveman has been a volunteer fire fighter since 1990. She has written articles for numerous equine and fire service publications, and her FIREHOUSE FAMILY series of novels reflects both of those interests.
