About the Book

This collection of prayers, poems, and prose is a record of how the author coped with life’s challenges, transcending frustrations over stalled careers, missed opportunities, misunderstanding, and disappointments, and delighting over countless blessings and accomplishments. Not overtly written for inspiration, the book nonetheless is authentically inspiring. It affirms the integrity of life even though one may have to traverse the desert and through the valley of death to reach wholeness. The universe has meaning even though we don’t understand it now. The prayers and poems are starters for communion with the mystery.

About the Author

Samuel Wong, author of Intimate Witnesses, has had several careers before his retirement in 2004. Since then, he has published A Diplomat in Guangzhou and A Chinese from Singapore. While doing research for the book Becoming a Massage Therapist at Age 70, he came across prayers, poems, and prose that he wrote in the past, and he decided to compile them into the book Intimate Witnesses to retrace his inner journey and the challenges he had to cope with. He is now a research massage therapist focusing on the synthesis of Chinese and Western massage. He lives in Northern Virginia.
