Once upon a time, deep in the Indian Ocean, there lived three fish called Teal, Scarlet and Brownie. Teal was a yellowtail tang, Scarlet was a crimson soldier fish, and Brownie was a brown tang. Teal, Scarlet and Brownie lived in the ruins of what had once been a magnificent ship, sailing the high seas. One day, when the fish were playing hide and seek amongst a coral reef, they heard a blood-curdling scream!
`Help, help', cried a fish, `White Fin is here!'
White Fin, the shark, was the most fearsome predator in the Indian Ocean. Teal, Brownie and Scarlet darted over to the wreck in a blur of red, blue, yellow and brown. They hid just in time too, because White Fin had swum into view. White Fin opened his cavernous mouth and roared, `I am White Fin, the most ferocious creature in all of the Indian Ocean! I destroy anything that dares to come in my path!'
`I hope that none of the fish were unlucky enough to get caught by White Fin', said Teal as she shivered with fright.
White Fin's sly green eyes scanned the ocean carefully. `Nothing here', said White Fin gruffly as he swam away. All the fish came out of their hiding places.
`Let's play hide and seek', said Brownie. `Okay', said Scarlet.
Soon the fish were swimming in and out of the coral. Soon, night fell on the Indian Ocean. The fish parted, all apart from Scarlet. Scarlet was nocturnal. She swam away to hunt. Teal and Brownie swam off to the wreck. While Scarlet was hunting, her large eyes caught sight of something glinting in some seaweed. She swam over to get a closer look. There, stuck in the seaweed, was a colourful moon wrasse. Scarlet helped the fish get out of the seaweed.
`Thanks red fish', said the moon wrasse, `go to Rainbow Reef and get the firestone, it will bring you a ray of hope when you are in need.' `I will go', said Scarlet, `but now I have to hunt.'
After hunting, Scarlet swam back to the old wreck. She woke up Brownie and Teal.
`What happened', asked Brownie as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. `Why did you wake us so late in the night, Scarlet?' asked Teal, sitting up. Scarlet narrated her story.
`So you see,' said Scarlet after telling her tale, `if we can get our fins on the firestone, we can save the ocean from White Fin'. `But where do we look?' asked Teal. `At the Rainbow Reef', replied Scarlet. `Well what are we waiting for?' exclaimed Brownie, `Let's go!'
`We need to pack a few things first', said Teal as she packed a seaweed rope, three clam flashlights, some plankton sandwiches and three walkie-talkies into a net bag.
`Now we're all set to go', said Brownie.
`Are you crazy?!' asked Scarlet, `at this hour viperfish, anglerfish and gulper eels will roam everywhere. We'll go in the morning.'
`Well I'm sure I can't wait until then', said Teal, `I'm so excited!'
The next day, early in the morning, Teal, Scarlet and Brownie set off towards Rainbow Reef, which was on the other side of the ocean.
`We have to be careful', said Brownie, `I've heard that an elephantine viperfish guards the entrance to Rainbow Reef.'
`Well we're not going to let any viperfish stop us from getting the firestone', said Teal cheerfully.
`Teal's right', said Scarlet, `Nothing is going to stop us from saving the ocean from White Fin!'
`Save the ocean from White Fin, huh?' said White Fin, who was lurking behind an enormous piece of coral, `Well well, I'll show them that nobody escapes this part of the ocean without meeting the oceans most fearsome shark!'
`Did you hear that', asked Teal, for she had heard White Fin whispering to himself, `It sounded like … like White Fin!'
`Nonsense, Teal', said Brownie, `White Fin won't be seen for miles around here!'
Little did the fish realize that they would have an encounter with White Fin sooner or later…?
`I can't wait until we get the firestone! ,' said Scarlet happily.
`So, they're searching for the firestone, my greatest enemy', muttered White Fin under his breath, `I won't let those fish get the firestone, that way, I can stay in the ocean forever!'
The brave fish swam on until they were pushed back by an enormous wave!
`What's happening?' asked Brownie.
I can't hear!' yelled Teal, `the splashing of the wave is too loud!'
`Well, just kindly tell me, what's happening', yelled back Brownie.
`We're being blocked by a wave, that's what's happening!' shouted Scarlet.
Suddenly, the sea storm died down, leaving the path clear for the fish to swim on. The surprised fish swam ahead. After the fish had swum on, night dawned upon the Indian Ocean.
`I'm sleepy', yawned Teal, `let's find a cave and go to sleep'.
`Okay', said Brownie readily.
Soon the fish found a nice, thick arch of coral. They then went to sleep. Brownie was the first one to wake up the next day. The sea was clear and blue. A majestic black manta ray swam past, followed by a shoal of anchovies and a long fin batfish.
Brownie shook Teal and Scarlet.
`Get up, sleepyheads! It's morning, and the ocean is so beautiful!' said Brownie.
Teal and Scarlet got up at once and swam to the entrance of the coral arch.
`It's a perfect day to start hunting for the firestone', exclaimed Scarlet joyfully, `let's go!'
`We need to have some breakfast first', said Teal as she took some plankton sandwiches out of her net bag.
After breakfast, the fish packed up their things and swam on into the clear blue ocean. The fish did not know that White Fin was secretly watching their every single move. It was not long until the fish came across another bar until the fish came across another barrier. This barrier was an undersea tornado.
