About the Book
Likewise, her fifteen years of training as a mental health counselor at several hospitals in the Chicago area and her past work as a certified Chicago public school teacher has enriched her perspective on life’s problems and how these affect one’s behaviors and attitudes. These and her direct and vicarious experiences as a native of Bangued helped her immensely in dissecting and in peeling the many layers of her beloved province Abra.
About the Author
Melchora Damian Bilgera was born, raised and worked in Bangued at the Divine Word College as a high school and college mentor; she has been a full professor at Philippine Normal University handling graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of Reading and Linguistics. Besides her book, “When Grandpa’s Fairy Flew Away”, she has written a dozen of textbooks for Philippine students in three levels: elementary, high school and college. Her Master’s degree in TESL {Teaching English as A Second Language} at the University of the Philippines as a UPDEC scholar, her training in Linguistics at the Regional Language Center in Singapore as a SEAMEO RELC grantee followed by her Post -Doctoral Enrichment program as a Fulbright scholar at San Francisco State University have afforded her invaluable experiences as a student, a mentor and as a member of the global society.
