About the Book

Through the lens of poetry, the author captures the trials that soldiers and their loved ones experience during war . . . times of separation, fear, death, and reunions shared by men and women sacrificing their time and often their lives supporting America’s freedom during military service.

These poems, written by the author as a soldier deployed during Desert Shield and Storm, not only relate to the author, but also express the emotions of many others serving now or who have served and have difficulty expressing how war has affected them, their wives, children, or all loved ones encompassed in their circle during the times of war.

About the Author

I was born to Willie and Gladys Jones in 1964, the seventh child of what would become thirteen siblings. After serving overseas with Desert Shield and Desert Storm, I returned to the States with a medical discharge with honor. Later my wife, Tina, became pregnant but I couldn’t open up to her. Due to the stress of my deployment I turned to heavy drinking and drugs, and we separated in 1994 for five years, during which time our daughter was born and we divorced. Fortunately, I stayed in touch with Tina, we remarried in 1999, and later came a son. I am an entrepreneur and business owner.
