Your chances of making a landing on the United States shores was very good. The war effort had the United States boats, planes, personnel and equipment on the way or already in Europe and Asia. German U-boats sank our unprotected shipping with impunity in U.S. waters. The fearless submarines operated near the shore in many cases as they cruised on the surface. Smugglers in a private boat made it to shore in Jupiter, Florida, during the daylight hours instead of waiting for darkness. Local residents were instantly on the scene, so the crew decided to abandon the boat and cargo and leave as quickly as possible. Gary and Ricey and Ricey were near the location and a telephone call sent them to the boat. The cargo was interesting, case after case of very desirable top shelf scotch whiskey. About the Book
This is a book that you will not soon forget about. It is about my father, a very unusual man. It is a collection of life events as seen by his young son. He definitely heard a different drummer and exposed his sons to a life few young people can ever imagine. It is both entertaining and thought-provoking. You will have your share of laughs and smiles.
About the Author
A Native Floridian, this author learned early on the value of hard work, being self- supporting and of serving others. Frank was just a teenager when his father deserted the family with his words to me “You are on your own now junior. ”and he worked two jobs to take care of his mother while attending school. He graduated from high school and then took ten years of night school and persevered to earn is BBA from Georgia State University while raising two children with his young bride. After a stint in the steel business, Frank joined his brother in his women’s apparel company, a business he owned for nearly thirty years until his retirement. He enjoys hunting, fishing, diving and helping people rehab their homes with a non-profit organization that he operated for ten years.
