About the Book

Flowers That Bloom is a collection of my poetry that is based on growth. This book starts off abrasive and dark, and it transitions into love and light, along with a few bumps because that’s just life! I decided to call it Flowers That Bloom because I saw myself as a flower. I was a seed at first, wanting to bud and grow. Dirt was thrown on me and water rained down on me, and I thought that I would wilt away and never be able to grow. But I learned that those things are necessary in a flower’s life. I had to undergo and overcome many obstacles in life. I’m sure that the readers have had to as well. That is partly why I put together this book. I wanted to be able to share my experiences with others. I wanted to shed light on healed wounds and let everyone know that it will be okay! You are transitioning. You are blooming! Don’t be afraid of dirt and water in life—bask in the sun!

About the Author

My name is Hope Sullins. I am an aspiring young author. I first started writing poetry six years ago when I was just ten years old! I caught wind of poetry when my english teacher submitted a poem of mine into the Anthology of Poetry for Young Americans in 2012. At first, I was not too serious about writing poetry, but as the years went on, I needed a way to creatively express myself and poetry was there. I started off writing songs but it somehow turned in poetry. I found that I loved how Edgar Allan Poe and Sylvia Plath expressed their emotions through poetry. I figured if they could do then I could, too. Writing is something I am extremely passionate about. Poetry is my escape and life is my muse. I kind of think of myself as an Alchemist; I transform pain into beauty and dark into light.
