Today’s weather was I bit cold despite the clear skies. A crescent moon stood watch over them this night along with the ocean of constellations.
They sat themselves around the flickering light of the fire, really close, to gain as much warmth from it as they could possibly get.
“I forgot its usually colder up top mountains,” Mark said rubbing his hands over the fire.
“Do you think it’s safe up here?” Daniel asked, forever skimming out the area.
“Yeah, I highly doubt we will encounter people up here,” He replied, “Let’s just hope people are our only threat.”
Mark stretched his arms and yawned, “I’m so glad we beat this mountain, just a few more days and we will be at Adornfell.”
Mia then remembered the conversation that she had with Grace the night before, “I know what happened to that town we visited yesterday.”
Everyone wondered why she was bringing up such a subject out of nowhere.
“Mmkay…,” James broke the silence.
“It was Levina.”
That sparked another fuse from everyone.
“Wait what?” Daniel was surprised.
“Heartless!” Attacked Mark.
James then noticed someone sitting next to him. It was Levina again. She slowly appeared and decided to listen in to what they were talking about.
She greeted James, who just gave a small wave back.
“No need for name-calling,” James said.
“Excuse me, she is the reason a lot of people there are homeless,” he justified it.
Mia stepped in, “It was not her exactly.”
They all silenced themselves, waiting for her to give out an explanation.
“While you guys were asleep, I went to this other women who explained it to me,” she began, “She said that as soon as Levina appeared in that town, a massive group of Dead Crow mages did as well, it was them who destroy the town in an attempt to try get her, she also said that Levina never hurt any of the civilians, only those that tried to kill her, which was the Dead Crow.”
“And off course they never caught her,” said James.
Mia nodded, “She said that Levina just vanished.”
“How long ago was this?”
“About a month.”
Mark was the only one without much sympathy, “So she was the root of the problem, but not exactly the problem?”
“I guess,” Mia replied.
Mark held a twig in the flames, “What is her nickname again?” he asked, “The living curse or something, where ever she shows up, destruction follows… yup perfect nickname.”
Levina swayed her hand in the flames, “I don’t think she meant it,” she said, “I hope so.”
“I don’t think she meant it,” James repeated.
“We don’t even know this person James, making assumptions is pretty normal,” Mark replied.
James reached forward and grabbed one of the chains hanging from Levina’s wrists, he examined it for a moment.
Everyone noticed this little gesture.
“James, are you okay?” Asked Mia.
He let go of the chain immediately, “Just thought I saw something on my hand,” he stuttered, the only thing he could think of right off the bat.
Levina laughed at his attempt at lying.
Their night today was very young. The long, weary and probably the most tiring day yet was finally over.
