The Unknown Among Us

The front door was ajar and was only held up by a large chain that was wrapped around it somehow. Ashton squeezed through the crack first, followed by Liam. They both looked around the area, a long hallway was in front of them with six doors on each side of the walls but most were closed. There was a small lobby and a sitting room, both looked like a tornado had gone through here. Trash, paper, chairs, and old beds were pretty much everywhere. Some blood was on the walls and floors, though most of it looked old, or at least Liam hoped it was old. The only light shining in the place was from a street light but it didn’t really show a whole lot around them. They could make out shapes of some things but not much details. Ashton even noticed that some kids had spray painted on the walls and though he couldn’t see much of what anything was, he knew the safest guesses were pictures of dicks and boobs everywhere with some writing along the lines of ‘Death to those who enter’, ‘They see you’, or ‘Suck my dick.’ Ashton already knew anything worth any kind of money would have been looted by now, not that he really cared. He wasn’t here to steal stuff, he was here to try seeing if the rumors about ghosts living here was true. So far no luck. “Okay so we went inside. Can we go now?” Ashton just ignored Liam and started to walk down the hallway slowly. He sighed when he heard Liam trip over something and curse but didn’t bother turning to look. “I think I hear cops coming. Can we leave? What if they think we are Satan worshipers and shoot us?” Liam whispered. Ashton rolled his eyes and shook his head slowly “The cops aren’t coming and they wouldn’t shoot us for worshiping the devil. Stop whining,” he murmured. He heard Liam grumbling to himself and chuckled softly. “I find myself with massive headaches every time we hang out.” “And I find a new religion every time we hang out. Why do you think it's a great idea to do these stupid things is beyond me. It's like being convinced that knocking on the devil’s door and running away is a great idea.” “I highly doubt the devil lives here and if he does we really should tell him to hire a decorator.” Ashton joked. “Yeah, let’s do that, because I’m sure the devil would be so thrilled to stand there and listen to you bitch about how unclean his home is,” Liam said sarcastically. He had no idea how he let Ashton convince him to do these things, how could looking for ghosts be fun? Somehow he got convinced to do things that landed them in a ton of trouble whenever they got caught. Ashton chuckled softly to himself and looked around slowly. He thought about going into some rooms but he really had no need to. Sure it’d be cool to poke around the rooms but he already knew there wasn’t anything really worth looking at inside them. Ashton paused and frowned “Did you hear that?” he whispered. Liam froze mid step and listened very carefully but after a moment he just glared over at Ashton “Don’t play this game with me,” he hissed out. “I’m serious… it sounds like…” “Two boys in serious trouble?” A deep voice sounded behind them.
