About the Book

In the book “Memories” is a collection of poems, written throughout various periods of my life. In it I talk about my thoughts and feelings, that I hope many can relate to. The main message I hope to deliver is that even when everything around you seems to crumble and fall apart there is always a light of hope that will shine through if only you can see it. I would like to say special thanks to my mother and grandmother, who kept believing in me; to my good friend Victoria Woodward, who helped me translate some of the poems and who was the first reader of my book; and a very special thank you to a person who helped me through a very difficult time in my life and helped me see that sometimes writing is all you need, Irina Milosevic. Without each of you I would not have begun my book, I would not have translated it, and most importantly I would not have believed I could finish it. I can only hope that my poems can bring the reader solace and comfort they brought to me.

About the Author

My name is Katarina, but my whole life my family and friends called me Nina. I was born in Serbia, a small country in southeastern Europe, where I also grew up. At 16 I moved to Melbourne and started a new and exciting chapter in my life. At the moment I am studying at university here in Melbourne. I also have two adorable dogs that, even through adults, are still puppies at heart.
