About the Book
When you walk down the supermarket aisle, how do you know which cleaning products to buy? Whether you like it or not, you are at the mercy of the marketers and will buy whichever product has the most attractive packaging or most convincing claims. This book demysti es these claims and will tell you which claims to believe and which products are the market leaders in each category. It will appeal to both the serious student of chemistry and the layman. For those that are interested, it will explain the chemistry of stains and cleaning, but for those that just want to know how to clean things, it will tell you how to wash your dishes, how to wash your clothes, and how to clean your carpets. You don’t need to read this book from cover to cover; it is written as a reference manual that enables you to jump in at any point. The stain-bystain section focusses on the questions I am most commonly asked, and the comprehensive table of contents and indexing system allows you to skip to whatever section either takes your fancy or addresses the particular cleaning issue that you have.
