About the Book
In just one sentence, Moses tells the Israelites what their kings must do in order to be the king they would need to be. David was the only one that did it. The Psalms are the written record of that fact. They are like journal entries that allow us to see what his walk with God looked like. His son, Solomon, got off to a good start but veered a bit toward the end. He gave us some very good advice in Proverbs. Some of it would have been good for him to follow himself. In Ecclesiastes, after years of fame and unimaginable wealth and accomplishment, he found it all to be meaningless. He too, in just one sentence, tells us why that is so. We were made to walk with God. Nothing in this life, as dazzling as it may be, can fill that space that God carved out for Himself.
