About the Book
As a young child I suffered from depression for over six and a half years as I developed into a young adult. This molded my life and the person I am today, but so much along the journey I felt I was alone and that no-one truly understood me. I hope that readers can connect with me through my writing and see that there are many challenges we may face in life but that they can be overcome. My work is not all dreary and black. I tell of love, family, gratitude and simplicity. I also bare my soul and let people see the absolute despair of a child and young woman as she struggles to fi nd herself and the meaning of a life that has so many different pathways offered but no signpost to indicate which direction to take. Not all my writing is based on my own experiences but written from my observations of the world and people around me.
About the Author
I was born in 1993 and grew up on Great Barrier Island, a small island on the East Coast of New Zealand’s North Island. I grew up on the island until I was 12, only leaving for my secondary schooling. It is a very important part of who I am and will always have a special place in my heart.
