About the Author
I was named Joseph but I rather be called Joe, I was born in Australia in 1963 and raised with a Maltese background. Growing up I have always loved music and I have been singing since I was 5, I will have to admit it wasn’t easy growing up from a very young age that I enjoyed looking at men, if you can get my meaning. I was in my late teens when I fell for a man I loved with all my heart but I lost him months after due to a car accident. After that I always kept my self busy with my painting and my ceramic work, which I enjoyed very much. I started writing many years ago, by trying my hand at script writing of an Australian soapy, I found that I was able to feel the characters I was bringing to life in a matter of speaking. After a very messy brake up with my partner of 11 years I was listening to a Patricia D Cornwell novel on audio tape while working on my ceramics and I thought to my self that I could do something like this, so I turned off the tape and started to out line my story line. Living in a small country town at the time I spoke to our local Police, and was given many strange looks until I explained why I was asking some of my questions. It was beginning to take it’s toll on me and I was about to give up on the whole thing when one day I was watching an episode of Murder She Wrote and it was the speech Jessica Flecher (Angela Lansbury) said, that spurred me on. “It’s not the age you start writing, but the quality and the quiet determination is what makes you a good writer.” So with that I went back to my computer and worked on what I had, I can’t say what it’s like for other writers, but for me I could hear my characters as they talked and joked, and as crazy it may sound, but I found my self laughing and crying with my characters. As I wrote I was listening to music and I found that songs seemed to help me to tell the story and gave me the impression to set the mood in my mind. So I hope this has helped you to know me better and how I got Deadly Friends to what it is today, and I trust you enjoy the fun ride this story takes you on.
