A Touch Of His Grace

About the Book

The factors that prompt me to write this book are some of the issues that I found challenging to me & my father's family, in this day & age. We may be generations apart from our fore fathers-but as I understand it, & there is no denying that, according to the Holy Bible, we as non-Jewish are termed as "Gentiles", & are strangers to the Covenants of God. The Gospel related the story of a Phoenician woman who came to Christ Jesus, for the healing of her demon-oppressed daughter. She was described as a "Gentile", & not having the "Covenants of God". But she had "faith" in Jesus, & her daughter was restored to fullness of health again! Jesus praised her that her "great faith" that brought about her daughter's healing!

From God's point of view, we are either "Gentile" or "Jew", generally known as God's "Chosen People", or God's "Elect", in the Holy Scriptures. Gentiles-does not infer inferiority or evil in any way! The Covenant of God was the agreement God made with Father Abraham, that He would make his descendents as the stars in the sky & that the Saviour would emerge from his posterity.(Genesis chapters 12, 15, 17).

In a modern world of computers & space rockets, sky scrappers, fast cars, with its mix of manifold cultures & varied religious ideologies, we may seem far removed from the Wonders of "God's parting of the Red Sea", "God's Great Plagues" in Egypt & "God's Heavenly Manna" for His people Israel in the wilderness. More recently, we were confronted with the Heavenly Angels' announcement to the Frightened shepherds, "Behold, I bring you Good News . . . this day . . . is born . . . a Saviour . . . Christ Jesus, which shall be a joy to the world" (Luke's Gospel 2:11f)We read of how Jesus performed Miracles, cast out Devils, healed the sick! We looked on as it were, as He died for the sin of the whole world, was buried & rose again from the dead, & thus offering immortality to mankind who could believe & receive it!

In light these, & the flight of time, as thousands of years lapsed-questions may be asked: 1) How relevant is the Bible today? 2) Does God still perform Miracles? 3) Does God Love everyone in the world? 4) Does His Death on the Cross provide Salvation for All Mankind? 5) Can a "God-Hater" be changed to a "God-Lover"? 6)Can anyone be beyond Salvation?

In my book, I try to put a positive spin to the above & to affirm that the All Powerful God can still change a hardened heart, as I saw how my own father's defiance melt away before God, in the last days of his life-not that he needed a "crutch" to lean on, (as they say), but rather his being "convinced" that what his fore fathers' faith could not do for him, the Name of Jesus could, more than banishing Demons away from terrifying him, but it (Name of Jesus) also put Peace in his heart,& SAVED his soul! In a moment to time, all my father's antagonism towards God was gone! By the time he finished praying, "I believe you are the Son of God, thank you for dying for me, God", his face was radiant from the Presence of God in his heart! Praise God-Amen!?

Born in the slums of Brunei water village, son of a taylor, raised in the country farm of Kuala Belait, started school at late age, stole money for gambling, addicted to cinema movies, a “ham” & abject failure in Chinese school, no academic degrees to boast about—by a touch of Grace God SAVED by soul, I saw a vision in a heavenly lightning, a “Call” to preach the Love of God, I had earlier traversed East & West Coast of Peninsula Malaysia, pastored in the Bethel Church, Brunei for while, assisted pastor Honhke at Gabba, Brisbane & later pastored for 7 years in Gabba” Four Square Church”, ministered a few times in “Canaan Church” in Vancouver, Canada, shared on Christian Radio Programs in Cebu, Philippines to potential 65 million listeners, a Cebu youth pastor claimed “Bernard, you are the fi rst Chinese missionary to preach in our Church” @ “International Gospel Centre”, I sponsored the 70 “disaster—affected” destitute orphans in Leyte, Mindanao Island, I helped run an Evangelistic crusade in the mountain-church of Tipolohon, Mindanao, & a Revival broke out, the little church was packed with curious city folks! A lady pastor earlier remarked: “We have been praying for anEvangelist for 15 years, would you be our Evangelist”? I was moved to sponsor hundreds of children in “Feed The Hungry” programs. On refl ection, I have been ministering in Philippines for 10 years or so in my itinerary there. As for Supernatural Interventions, I witnessed for the fi rst time, in a near fatal car accident, how God transported my car from a one-way Gateway Freeway to Logan, to another one-way Freeway, going the opposite way to Brisbane, Qld. being hundreds of metres apart, landed my car safely without any damage,dents or dins! Thank You God! Lastly, God allowed me the privilege, to lead my own stroke-strickened father to pray & confess his need of God’s Salvation in Jesus, after years’ of antagonism against God, & having devils banished from terrifying him at his sick bed. All Glory to God for His abundant Grace & Mercy for his eventual Salvation! Amen.
