Hearts and Sole concerns “In the Balance”, a store whose “Sole Owner” sits in judgement of his customers. The novel centres on the fate of a number of characters who have reason to enter the store where their behaviours become the subject of the Sole Owner’s scrutiny. What is the novel really about? Derek would say that’s for you to decide. Make of it what you will but, importantly, enjoy. Oh and ask yourself, if you entered In the Balance, what the Sole Owner would make of you! About the Author

Derek lives in Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire. He is married and has a daughter and two stepsons. His wife, Amanda, is his inspiration. Interested in music since his teens, he was a member of an embryonic 1960s’ band eclipsed by the birth of the disco. He still regularly plays electric and acoustic guitars across a wide genre of music. Derek has built himself a reputation for high quality written work. The Point of No Return is his second novel.
