About the Book

I have known Philip for many years as a surveyor. He is a very good surveyor. As this book shows, he is also a very good author and this book can only enhance his reputation. Everyone should have a copy of this book to be consulted if there is a dispute with the neighbours. HH Judge Philip Bartle QC Mr Antino, is an acknowledged expert in the field of party wall act issues. He explained that the object of the Party Wall etc Act 1996 is to encourage neighbouring property owners to resolve building issues which mutually affect them, through the use of surveyor. About the Author

My intention when writing this book was to bring together all of those areas that chartered surveyors often encounter either by way of their specialist professional activities or in general day to day environments. The topics that this book covers fall within the title of Neighbourly Matters, the truth being that relationships between neighbours are often far from cordial. I hope that my attempts to interpret and explain these complex legal issues will help to demystify these unique specialisms. I am not attempting to create quasi barristers or lawyers but to help surveyors become better informed about these issues so that they can provide informed advice at an early stage, and thus prevent matters from escalating.
